DM Serif Display is a high-contrast transitional serif from Colophon Foundry in the UK. The studio started from the Latin letters of Adobe’s Source Serif 4, drawn by Frank Grießhammer and colleagues, and reshaped them with delicate serifs and fine detail for super-sized poster settings. A companion, DM Serif Text, exists for smaller point sizes.

Two styles sit in the ZIP: Regular and Italic. The file set is small, so there is no bold to reach for; the thick strokes already carry the weight. Language support is Latin Extended, enough for English and other Western European languages.

Use it large: magazine-style headlines, book covers, menus and logotypes. Below roughly headline size the hairlines get thin, so set paragraphs in something else. DM Sans is the obvious partner, since the two families come from the same studio. Inter and Lato also work as calm text faces underneath, and Work Sans suits captions and buttons.
