DM Sans is a geometric sans serif by Colophon Foundry, a studio in London. They started from the Latin part of Indian Type Foundry’s Poppins and lowered the contrast, so stroke thickness stays even and text stays clear at small sizes. The round, geometric shapes remain, but DM Sans is calmer in paragraphs and interface text.
The download holds six static styles: Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic. The original family is a variable font that runs from Thin to ExtraBlack and has an optical size axis. The static files here use the default optical size, which suits most body and UI text. Language support is Latin Extended, enough for English and other Western European languages.
It is at home in app and website interfaces, dashboards and slides. For contrast, pair it with a serif such as Lora or Playfair Display. Under an Anton headline it makes a clean poster-and-caption pair.
