Lexend grew out of a project led by Bonnie Shaver-Troup to reduce visual stress and improve reading performance. It began with dyslexia and struggling readers in mind, and she found it helped other readers too. Thomas Jockin drew the first set, and the letters are wider and more loosely spaced than a typical sans.

This pack has four static files: Regular, Medium, SemiBold and Bold. The original is a variable font with a weight axis running from Thin to Black, so the full range is wider than what is in the ZIP. There are no italics. Language support covers Latin, Central and Eastern European Latin, and Vietnamese.

The open spacing suits long-form text, learning materials, documentation and interface copy where comfort counts more than density. It is less happy in tight headlines, where the width eats space. For a bookish contrast, set headings in Lora or Playfair Display. For a plainer pairing, Inter works in captions and tables.
